Learning the Alphabet A-Z Worksheets

This post contains a lot of simple and easy worksheets that your child can use to help them learn their alphabet A-Z. Learning the alphabet is a really big step since its the foundation that then leads your child into learning topics that help them to produce language so learning the basic letters and their sounds is a super important task.

Do these activities with your kid so that they can start to pronounce the letters, associate the sound to the letter and what order the letters are in.

I hope that these sheets are fun and engaging to use with your little one. I have tried to create worksheets that are simple, easy and quick to use so that you can teach the alphabet at home in bitesize pieces so that your child has time to take in what they have learnt.

Let's have a look at the worksheets:

Worksheet #1
The first worksheet can be used in different activities that introduce and help the little ones to learn the letters. Since, this worksheet can be used multiple times it means that you won't be wasting paper for one activity and you'll have an activity ready to go which saves you time on having to scour online for alphabet learning activities.

Some ways you can use this worksheet are:
  •  Read out loud each letter with your child to help them learn the letter and to help letter recognition. You can read directly off the sheet or you can cut out each letter and read out one letter a day to really help learning the letter. Reading one letter at a time is a more effective way for your kids to learn their letters, it will help them focus on the single letter and not overwhelm them.
  •  Cut out the letters and work with them to stick the letter onto an object in the house that starts with that letter. Or another fun activity you can do is to cut out the letter and stick it in the middle of a blank page and print out small pictures of objects that start with that letter and stick them onto the blank page around the letter. This activity is super fun and one that will allow both of you to enjoy it together and be creative. You can create a letter picture book with this activity. Again doing one letter at a time and letting your child focus on one letter a day or a couple of days would be the most appropriate way. I did a sheet of the letter A:

Worksheet #2

A few ways that you can use the blank worksheet:
  •  Put both the filled and blank sheet side by side and have your little one fill it out, this is active learning which means that since your child is doing something with the material such as writing out the letters then it will reinforce the concepts into their brain making the learning more stronger
  •  You can fill out some of the sheet with the pencil and have your child fill out the missing boxes, get your child to check by using the first worksheet, this activity is both fun and requires more effort and thinking on behalf of your child. This activity is great in teaching your child the order as well as a mini test to see what letters they find easy to remember and which harder.

There are also a couple of resources in my etsy shop that I think will be highly valuable to introducing children to alphabet and numbers in a fun and engaging way.

The colourful alphabet and number print bundle below is an easy way to help kids learn the alphabet and numbers. You can laminate the sheets and bring them out for a couple minutes each day to quickly go over each sheet, the regular learning is beneficial for kids as it allows them to become confident in recognising the letters and numbers.

Another great resource you might be interested in is the Learn & Write 1-10 worksheet pack that has a range of activities that the child can attempt to strengthen their 1-10 number knowledge. I really like the activities because they are nice and simple so they focus only on the key things making it easier for the child to learn and digest the knowledge instead of making it overwhelming. I hope that you enjoy using the sheets to teach your child their alphabet at home and if you have any more ideas for how you use these worksheets then share them down below.

See you in my next post.
