Learning Shapes Practice Sheets

The worksheets you will find in this post are:
  • shapes colouring sheets
  • shapes tracing sheet
  • shape learning sheet
Each of the sheets are in an A4 format but you can also print in a letter format, just change the format you want to print in on your computer before printing. To print the worksheets click on the worksheets, save them and print it from your computer.

Each of the sheets is a quick activity so it can be done as a quick learning exercise but you should revisit the worksheets to continue the child's learning as that is the best way for children to learn. Children need to be taught a concept or a topic a few times before they can understand and remember it so having a go at the worksheets a couple of times will help the child to process and grasp what they are learning.

Colouring Sheet

This is a fun activity for the child to do whilst also learning their shapes, you can sit with the child and complete the sheet with them. Whilst they are colouring you can discuss the shapes with them and what the names of the shapes are. Another benefit of the colouring sheet is that it helps with the child's pencil and grip control.

Tracing Sheet

This sheet is perfect to help early learners develop their writing skills. The child can trace around the shapes using a:
  • pen
  • crayon
  • marker
  • paint
  • colouring pencil
  • glue stick
The more exciting you make the activity the more interested and engaged the child will be when doing the worksheet. The shapes are nice and big so it's a great exercise for toddlers and early learners who are learning to hold and use a pencil.

There is also another tracing resource linked below that you can check out to further support your child's handwriting and pencil skills.

Learning Sheet

Whilst the other two are more active learning sheets this is more of a teaching poster. If you want you can laminate this sheet and use one of two sheets above to do a matching exercise. So, once the child colours the first sheet you, or the child, can cut the shapes out and ask the child to match the cut out shapes to what is on the sheet below.
